The government has declared May 5 a national holiday, giving people a long weekend of four days off. The administration anticipates that the lengthy vacation will contribute to the economy through a variety of tourism-related activities.
The decision to extend the vacation from Coronation Day on May 4 through the weekend was accepted by the Cabinet during their weekly meeting.
Traisuree Traisaranakul, deputy government spokesperson, has stated that the four-day holiday will benefit in advancing economic operations, especially in the commercial and tourist sectors.
She added that public and private organizations will be able to make preparations for the holiday thanks to the advance notice given.
With this new holiday included, the total number of official holidays for 2018 rises to 19, or 24 including make-up days.
