Government House Opens for National Children’s Day

This Saturday is National Children’s Day, and to celebrate, Government House will be accessible to the public. This is so that youngsters may get a taste of what it’s like to be prime minister for a day.

A spokesperson for the government, Anucha Burapachaisri, said the site will be open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a number of activities planned for the day.

On that day, Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha will preside over the opening ceremony and join in on the fun with the youngsters who have come to visit. Youth who have had a positive impact on Thailand’s image abroad will be in attendance, as will able-bodied and disabled youngsters from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Speaking for the government, Anucha noted that this year’s Children’s Day events at Government House will highlight the importance of nurturing Thai identity, patriotism, and the potential of Thai children. These gatherings feature exhibitions, sporting tournaments, and numerous games that stress creativity and education.

The Thai culture places a high value on instilling in youngsters a sense of responsibility, discipline, pursuit of goodness, love for the Thai identity and nation, respect for the king, and environmental consciousness.

Children will also get the chance to hone their oratory skills at the de facto press briefing venue of Government House by participating in a news reading session at the Nareesamosorn Building.
