NACC requests clarification on the Bang Sue Station Contract from SRT

The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) is investigating the State Railway of Thailand’s 33-million-baht contract to rebuild the nameplate and emblem of Bang Sue Grand Station (SRT).

The project has been criticized for its expense and its perhaps dubious selection procedure for the construction company Unique Engineering and Construction Plc (UNIQ).

As the procurement procedure for the redesign has not yet been finished, the NACC Secretary-General Niwatchai Kasemmongkol stated that the organization has asked clarification from the SRT on a number of project-related matters.

The SRT previously stated that it employed a separate bidding technique for the redesign work including warranty-protected modifications to finished construction. The organization emphasized that the total cost included the installation of two SRT logos and the procurement of 110 English and Thai characters.

Charnchai Issarasenarak, a former member of the House committee on corruption suppression, has previously voiced issues regarding the SRT’s procurement policies, notably those pertaining to the building of the Red Line system. He encouraged the government to utilize its authority under Section 44 of the interim charter by interfering in the proceeding.
