Bartender Upskill Workshop in Hua Hin

On June 20, Mr Nopporn Wutthikul, Mayor of Hua Hin, belong with Mr Saksak Sengteng, Director of the Prachuap Skills Development Office, and relevant officials presided over the opening of the project to develop the fundamentals of the Bartender Upskill Workshop at the Hua Hin. During the ceremony, there was a mixed drink show from former bartender champion in Thailand, Mr Kittisak Chuensakul; he is also Samui Bartender Champion 3 years in a row and 3 years Hua Hin Cha-am Champion.

Mr Saksak said that the project was organized by the Office of Skill Development in Prachuap Province, together with the Tourism Council of Prachuap Province and the Hua Hin-Cha-am Tourism Business Association. To develop the potential of workers in the tourism and service industry by organizing training to enhance the bartender’s skills, a total of 3 days and 30 hours, with a total of 26 people attending the training sessions.

A training team consisting of staff and students from the Rajamangala University of Technology Rattanakosin Wang Klai Kangwon Campus, Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Industry, joined experienced bartenders. Every day is interspersed with theory and practice for better understanding and expertise. At the end of the training, there will be a drink mixing competition to measure everyone’s performance and skill level. And issue a professional certificate from the Skills Development Department to those who have passed the training.

Mr Nopporn said he was honoured to participate in this excellent and practical cooperation. As Hua Hin is a world-class tourist city, domestic and foreign tourists flock to it; therefore, bar or pub needs to upgrade their bartenders’ skill and make them more proficient. Restaurants or entertainment venues are ready to welcome visitors with the various techniques and build up a character to the venue to make the drink taste better and more unique. He also pointed out that in the past, bartenders only cared about the amount of mixing and ignored the art of mixing beverages. During the training, they will receive expert guidance to improve their skills to an international level and be able to design new cocktails by themselves to attract tourists and build a reputation for businesses and the Hua Hin area.

Ms Wassana said the situation from the COVID-19 outbreak had gradually improved. Bashu is a pilot province for tourism in Thailand, especially in the tourist-heavy Hua Hin district, and it is hoped that it will be ready to welcome tourists as soon as possible. Therefore, this project was set up to raise the bartender’s standard and make it more professional.
