Governor of Prachuap strives to increase farmers’ income through an agricultural trade fair

On June 17, 2022, Mr Sathien Charoenruen, Governor of Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, presided over the opening ceremony of the “treatment unit suffering Bamrungsuk create smiles to people”.   The project aims to provide Thap Sakae district residents with government agencies’ services.  The staff offers various assistance, and the residents do not need to travel far to the government department for inquiries.  The project’s current services include neutering 45 stray dogs and cats in the area, of which 42 were vaccinated against rabies, and providing Rusi grass seeds to 43 farmers. 

Mr Sathien said the province is preparing to organise an agricultural fair from July 13 to 22, 2022, at Chaloem Phrakiat Rama IX Park for 10 days.  The purpose is to help those affected by COVID-19 farmers along the coastal road in Prachuap Khiri Khan province and Prachuap Bay by creating a market channel to assist in the distribution of agricultural products from the area enabling farmers to earn income.

There are activities every day from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, such as the quality competition of coconut and pineapple, milk-based cooking activities, and cooking demonstrations on removing Nuanchan fish bones.  The campaign also sells low-cost necessities to residents, such as the eggs sold at 90 and 100 baht per pack, and the pork is 150 baht per kilo. It aims to stimulate the region’s economy by promoting tourism, and promote Prachuap produce is widely known.

Not only coconuts and pineapples are famous, but Prachuap province also has a variety of agricultural products such as mangoes, golden flowers, jackfruit, as well as various organic vegetables and aquatic products; in order to promote those products, there will also be a series of activities: agricultural innovation exhibitions, demonstration of new farming techniques, and Symposium on mutual exchange of experience between farmers;  hoping to revitalise the economy, reduce costs and improve production efficiency after the Covid-19 epidemic has eased.
