Mr. Pairote Meeprachan, chairman of the Rai Mai Sub-District Administrative Organization, said that the flooding problem in the two sub-districts is a chronic problem because the area is a basin. When it rains heavily, water flows from all sides together causing flooding that can last for months before returning to normal. More recently, they ordered to bring a long-sleeved backhoe to dig to open drainage ditches at 3 points, about 5 meters wide, 1 meter deep, to help drain the water to the sea more quickly. Having just started the rainy season, the water is very high and some parts had already flooded the plain areas. With the rainy season, the villagers will be more affected. If the houses are flooded, the agricultural areas including rice fields, shrimp fields and fish ponds will be destroyed, so the community will rush to solve the villagers’ problems first.
For long-term solutions, SAO has coordinated with the Royal Irrigation Department. In the future, the construction of a sluice gate and a concrete road on the irrigation area is ready to be designed for the villagers.
Boonma Emsamrit, 55, a villager of Sam Roi Yot, said that the water was flooded for about two days because of the rain all day. The areas around his house were flooded but the water did not enter his house nevertheless he is concerned about how to enter and exit his house. It was found that the water level was dropping steadily, so I wanted various agencies to find a long-term solution to the problem. because if the flood enters the house Property damaged and unsheltered before, the flood water would enter the house. you have to carry things on the roof to escape the water
Mr. Wathit Seaweed, a fish farmer, said that there were 5 catfish ponds that were flooded this time. Many fish were lost. Also other farmers who were raising fish nearby, including tilapia and other fish, suffered from the same problems.
