Prachaup Khiri Khan is going to organize a food tasting event, “Let’s Taste Delicious Food in Sam Ao. Local Food. Local Sweets”, to promote tourism and the economy of the city from May 25 to 26, 2022.
On April 27, 2022, Mr. Kamol Kaewthet, Mayor of Prachuap Khiri Khan, Mr. Sarawut Limarunrak, President of Prachuap Provincial Administrative Organization, Mr. Isara Thapanaset, Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Prachuap Office, and Mr. Udomsuk Nimsian, President of the Prachuap Provincial Tourism Business Association had a meeting with relevant agencies at Prachuap Khiri Khan Municipality Office to prepare activities to promote tourism in the New Normal Thai way of life “Let’s Taste Delicious Food in Sam Ao. Local Food. Local Sweets” during May 25-26, 2022 at the coastal road of Prachuap Bay to stimulate the economy, promote tourism in the area of Prachuap Khiri Khan to distribute income to people in the community. There will be community products, and OTOP products from 4 regions on sale, cooking competitions, and desserts by local chefs. Tourists can taste local food and sweets for free. There will also be a youth folk song contest for kids under 18 years old, an informal knowledge exchange seminar between agencies and operators, which is about tourism, and local food and desserts.
Mr. Udomsuk Nimsian, President of the Prachuap Provincial Tourism Business Association, revealed that this activity will stimulate the tourism sector in the short term according to the provincial strategy. Moreover, it will promote tourism, tourist attractions, food, and souvenirs of Prachuap Khiri Khan. It is considered a boost in the southern zone where Prachuap City Municipality will be the main host with the government, private sectors, associations, and local communities as this activity is considered the 5th after having been absent for two years during the COVID-19 outbreak.
The previous event was organized in 2018. The gimmicks were an eating competition of Jab Lhak, Prachuap recipe’s grilled fish balls on a stick, and Kanom Toam, coconut dumplings, a youth Hawaiian dancing contest, and a Thai paste making competition.
