The second ‘Field Day’ was organized to promote the learning of how to apply technology, innovation, and agricultural knowledge in pineapple farming.
Reporters reported that at the Learning Center for Enhancement of Agricultural Product Production located at village No.11, Hin Lek Fai Subdistrict, Hua Hin District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, Mr. Sathien Charoenrian, Prachuap Khiri Khan Governor presided over the opening ceremony of the technology transfer day to begin the new production season (Field Day) in 2022. The Governor of Prachuap congratulated Mr. Rungruang Lairaksa, chairman of the Center for Enhancement of Agricultural Product Production of Hua Hin District, who received the Outstanding Farmer Award of 2022, as well.
Mr. Wanchai said that Prachuap Province has set up learning centers for increasing the efficiency of agricultural products in every district, totaling 8 centers and a network of 155 learning centers on agriculture for the community with the main agricultural products. The body of knowledge is a combination of modern technology, local wisdom, and the philosophy of sufficiency economy as a guideline for farming and farmers’ lifestyle. Prachuap Province has set a total of 2 Field Day events, at Thap Sakae District on March 24, 2022, and the second one at Hua Hin District.
For the field day on April 21, 2022, at Hua Hin District, the main activities were promoting the use of technology and innovation to increase pineapple production efficiency with four knowledge transfer stations that were set up, namely
1. Learning Station1: the propagation and selection of fresh pineapples.
2. Learning Station2: Quality Pineapple Production Technology
3. Learning Station3: HandySense technology in pineapple plots
4. Learning Station4: Market Management and Value Creation.
In addition, there were also presentations of knowledge and other agricultural services from various agencies under the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, shows, and product sale of farmer’s housewives/community enterprises, and new generation farmers (Young Smart Farmer) with 120 target farmers in the areas of Hua Hin – Pranburi – Sam Roi Yot and Kui Buri to learn.
Mr. Sathien said that organizing this event was one of the important agricultural development activities that would help get farmers ready before entering the new production season in 2022. This encouraged farmers to start production in the new planting year by using technology, innovation, and agricultural wisdom that is suitable for the area, planning and managing risks in production, and strengthening farmers as well as providing opportunities for agencies to provide agricultural services to support farmers.
