The Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) will discuss the future of the measures to control the recent Covid-19 outbreak. The future of the Test & Go program for air travelers and the reopening of night entertainment will be part of the main topics at the meeting.
Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha had instructed officials to monitor the Covid-19 situation following the reopening of companies and government buildings following the New Year break.
CCSA will decide on Friday if the suspended Test & Go program will resume soon depending on the number of fatalities and the behavior of new infection cases. The Test & Go strategy provided air visitors with a quarantine-free entry after one night in a selected hotel that fully complies with the government’s instructions to control the spread of the virus. CCSA suspended the scheme on Dec 22 to reduce the spread of the new Omicron variant.
The Friday meeting will also decide on the opening up of pubs, bars, and karaoke places. The outlook is not promising. The Covid-19 clusters during the holidays appear to be caused mainly by gatherings at locations serving alcoholic beverages.
Thailand’s strategy is to resume normal activities by increasing immunization through booster shots.
