Thailand’s Prime Minister will be working from home up to January 14

Authorities are anticipating that New Year’s celebrations and travel will lead to an increase in Covid virus infections, so they are now urging employers to implement a work-from-home model for their employees. Public servants will be required to work from home for two weeks, and the Prime Minister himself is currently working from home until January 14 and will be attending this week’s Cabinet meeting remotely.

Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha has ordered relevant agencies to keep an eye on the Omicron mutation infection to prevent the spread of clusters. Learning from the recent Omicron cluster in Kalasin, authorities are trying to keep the spread to a minimum.

The Prime Minister also called upon people who think they have COVID-19 to not participate in activities and avoid contact with others, and to quickly isolate themselves and participate in treatment.

Earlier, the Prime Minister had issued an urgency letter asking civil servants to work from home from January 1 to 14 as an effort to increase disease prevention in public offices.

General Prayut himself will work from home until January 14. He will attend the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, January 4, and the plenary meeting of the COVID-19 Situation Management Center (SMCC) scheduled for Friday, January 7, and a video conference will be held at his residence at the 1st Infantry Regiment in Bangkok.

Gen. Supoj Malaniyom, director of the CCSA operations center, declared that the operations center will hold a meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 5, following which the meeting’s findings and recommendations will be submitted to the CCSA plenary later this week.
