BANGKOK (NNT) – The fourth phase of the government’s co-payment campaign has been confirmed for launch in March 2022.
Government spokesperson Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana disclosed that the Cabinet approved the new phase for the campaign following its meeting on Tuesday. The new phase will begin in March of next year and have a period of two months to promote domestic spending.
The co-payment scheme, known as “Khon La Khrueng” in Thai, is a subsidy program in which the government pays 50% of the food, drinks, or general good purchases for up to 150 baht per day, with a 3,000-baht subsidy limit per person. The campaign is currently in its third phase, which will conclude on December 31. Users are advised to expend their entire subsidy by the end of the year, as any remaining funds will not carry over into the next phase.
The Cabinet has also approved an extension of the “Tour Tiew Thai” campaign from January 31 to April 30, 2022. The program provides a 40% discount on tour packages at up to 5,000 baht per trip for a total of one million people. Two million additional room nights will also be available for the “We Travel Together” subsidy campaign. Under this program, registrants can earn a 40% discount on hotel rooms and restaurants and receive an e-voucher when they check into a hotel. They can also receive a 40% flight refund upon checking out. The subsidy was originally limited to 2 million room nights, with registrants required to book their stays at least seven days in advance.
The spokesperson added the Cabinet has also approved a two-year waiver on the permit extension fee for tourism businesses at 2,000 baht per permit and tour guides at 200 baht per permit to help revitalize the domestic tourism industry.
