Feel the warmth at HUGS Hua Hin, a great place to dine! (CLOSED)

Painted in bright orange and black colours stands Hug Hua Hin (กอด หัวหิน), just slightly past Soi 56 with ample customer parking at the rear.  And standing ready to welcome you are Andrew & Nong, owners of this restaurant.  In their own words they are seeking to “provide quality wholesome food for both Thai’s and foreigners living in Thailand, both via individual orders, delivered straight to our customers homes, or directly to hotels and restaurants.”  All of this is led by their European Chef Martin, who ensures hand made goodness in their kitchen. Chef Martin has been working in Thailand for over 10 years, and has further developed his Chef skills which originated in Sweden and also via a stint at Black Mountain. The venue itself has spacious interiors with plenty of seating space.  Over against a far wall are a row of freezers, storing a large range of frozen pre made meals and grocery lines.  In fact its possible to see these pre made meals at other outlets throughout Hua Hin as well.

We selected a range of their food to try out and put their Chef skills to the test, luckily (spoiler alert) we were not disappointed.  We opened up with their big breakfast, and what a delight it was.  We were treated to their home made sausages, which are big chunky tasty morsels of goodness. Two slices of bread, baked beans, hash browns, eggs and bacon.  A delightful start to a lovely Hua Hin day. They also have a an eclectic Somtum on their menu replete with Australian steak.

Next up was the Turkish pizza, a new one for us and quite appealing, its put together in a normal way with kebab meat, then topped up with salad and doused with garlic sauce.  Definitely a delicious treat to be enjoyed with a friend or two.  If you have had a rough night, then their spaghetti Pad See Mao with salmon is a perfect way to soldier on, traditional thai spicy pad dee mao with a lovely fillet of salmon sitting atop.  If you are hankering for a Scandinavian treat, then do enjoy their meatballs. Perfectly cooked and spiced meatballs with a delicious and creamy mashed potato accompanying it.

HUGS Hua Hin have a loyal following to the restaurant which is a testimony to wonderful recipes which are old school and cooked using traditional high quality ingredients. They do not cut corners in the preparation of the meals and carefully control the amounts of sugar, salt and oil that they use. Rest assured dear readers, if you are looking for a great vlaue but tasty meal, or even a morning Coffee, HUGS Hua Hin are ready to sort you out!
